KRC Opening Soon – Message from Board

May 24, 2020

An Important Message from the Board of Directors

These exceptional times of COVID-19 require that the Kenora Rowing Club implement exceptional measures, and that its members show exceptional discipline to ensure that we all stay healthy and still have a great rowing season.

The Club has developed a COVID-19 Code of Conduct that will be in effect for the 2020 rowing season. This document will ensure that all who come to the Club maintain appropriate physical distancing and sanitation measures. Please read this document carefully.

Our passion to be on the water must be tempered by our sense of community. We must all work together to ensure the health and safety of all and to ensure the Club can remain open throughout the summer.

The Board is currently hard at work finalizing the club policies and procedures and ensuring the boathouse has all of the supplies and signage needed to open for Phase 1. In the first phase, starting on May 28, we will be open only to Masters rowers that are cleared to row a single on their own. Single boats only unless you live with your 2x partner. The KRC online registration will open on May 26 for these members. Fees must be paid via credit card or e-transfer only. Members that have completed the online registration, completed payment, and agreed to the Phase 1 COVID-19 Contract will be given clearance to begin reserving rowing times/shells and accessing the Club.

Please note that Juniors and inexperienced Masters are not permitted to row at this time. Any programming or rowing requiring coaching or multiple people carrying/rowing a shell is prohibited until further notice. We will open up to these programs when it is permissible to have multiple people in closer proximity.

We will continue to evolve with the situation and policies will change as we learn more and see our efforts in action. If you have suggestions or want to assist the club during this time, please communicate with a member of the Board.

I wish you all good health and the best rowing season we can have!

Erin McCuaig
President, Kenora Rowing Club
